来年の「精神の〈北〉へ」活動は、東京と福島を予定しています。
福島での活動のうち、未決定事項が残っている喜多方市の開催について、地元のキタ美実行委員会、地域おこし協力隊のお二人とアーティストとのZoomミーティングをしました。

作品理解の糸口としてのワークショップのこと、複数の会場のこと、支援資金の申請のこと…。やはり、メールよりも対話での相談は早い！参加作家の滝沢達史さんの手際の良いPC操作で、たちまち、開催スケジュール案などがまとまりました。このぐらいの人数だと、意見もアイデアも互いに作用しあって、新たなものが生まれてきます。

日曜日の９月２０日、来年の「精神の〈北〉へ」展の開催の機会を得るために、都内のある美術館でのプレゼンテーション審査を受けました。１次の企画書類審査は合格、そしてこのプレゼンテーションが最終審査になります。
（結果がわかるまでは、美術館名は伏せておきます）

Covid-19の影響で、予定していたスコットランドでの交流展ができなくなってしまったため、計画変更。日本とスコットランドの参加者たちが、離れたままで深いコミュニケーションを継続して制作し、同時開催の展覧会を行い、会場同士をオンラインでつなげることにしたのです。
日本にも会場が必要になりましたが、今から来年の会場を探すのは至難の業。そこで、この応募に挑戦しているわけです。さて、10月に連絡される審査結果はどうなるか？

Yesterday, I gave a presentation at a museum in Tokyo to get the opportunity to hold an exhibition “Spirit of North: Confluence” next year.

Due to the influence of Covid-19, it is no longer possible to hold an exchange exhibition in Scotland together. Therefore, we decided that the participants from Japan and Scotland decided to keep communicating, hold exhibitions at the same time, and connect the venues online.

来年の開催にむけて、日本からの参加アーティストは、Covid-19による世界の深刻さがはっきりしてきた５月には４名が決まりました。そして少し後には、日本人アーティストの１対１の交流相手としてのスコットランドのアーティストも４名がきまりました。
誰もが近い未来の計画をたてることに慎重になるとき、私のお誘いを、喜んで受けてくれた参加者たちの心意気に感謝します。

日本からの新メンバー２人とは、作品は知っていたものの、初対面。メールでの話し合いではつかみきれない、この企画の肝心な話をしたくて、Zoomミーティングをやってみました。初めて顔を合わせ、それぞれの〈北〉のイメージを語ってもらうと、北志向の人間性が感じ取れて、この人選で良かった！と実感。

コロナ禍は、来年にも収束しているかどうか予測つきません。深く考え、状況に応じてフレキシブルに対応する感性と力量が試されます。

For next year’s exhibition, the participating artists from Japan and Scotland have been decided from May to June, when the seriousness of the world by Covid-19 became clear.
I would like to thank the participants for their willingness to accept my invitation when everyone is cautious about planning for the near future.

I knew their work but had never met two new members from Japan. I held a Zoom meeting because I wanted to talk about the essentials of this project. We talked about the image of each <North>, I could feel the North-oriented humanity in them. Great members we are!

It is unpredictable whether Covid-19 will converge next year. We are tested for sensitivity and ability to respond flexibly to the situation.
